“Work for Hire” is a technical term in copyright circles. You can read more about it here.

But, I’m using it as a play-on-words title for a little adventure/experiment I want to try.

Inspired by David Horvitz’ “FOR YOU” website, I will offer my services as a photographer to you, the wandering nomads who have somehow landed here. I’ll work, you hire. PayPal me some funds, and I’ll provide you with something in return.

A few caveats: I live in Abilene, Texas (Population: Wind and dust). It’s a small town featuring a ton of churches (big and small, old and young), people (big and small, old and young), electricity-generating windmills (big, young), sparkly sidewalks and the other random bits that make up a community. Ideally, I’d like to limit the “experiences” to this geographic area. On the other hand, I do travel quite a bit, and would be willing to modify things a bit.

I’ll offer a few things to begin with, but feel free to email me with suggestions (use the “Contact Me” link in the sidebar to the right).

Downtown Abilene

Hire me to take 5 photographs of Downtown Abilene. Including, but not limited to: sparkly sidewalks, the historic Paramount Theater, the tallest hotel in Abilene, passersby, local eateries (McKay’s Bakery, Bogie’s, etc.), the Post Office, the Grace and other sundry items of interest.

West Texas Windmills

Hire me and I will drive out to the nearest windmill farm and photograph one of the new power-generating windmills. These things are big, and would make a nice decoration in your eco-friendly home. Or, perhaps a nice gift for someone who has an eco-friendly home. Or, someone who wants to appear to be eco-friendly.

Almost Famous

Hire me to follow you around for 20 minutes, shooting pictures of you (and possibly one other person), paparazzi-style. Use this service to impress a date, or if you are in need of a CD full of high-res images of yourself walking down the street, buying coffee, getting into a car, going to a club, etc.

Price: $30- Local, CD of high-res shots. [If you live outside of Abilene, please include travel expenses when ordering. Don't worry, I fly economy.]

Rear Window

Hire me and I will send you a photograph taken directly from my office, located on the beautiful campus of Abilene Christian University in scenic Abilene, Texas. Some of the interesting things I can see from my office: a large gum tree (with little seed balls on it, at the moment), the ACU Physical Plant (often with cool steam coming out), the College of Business Administration building, a water pump of some kind, some pine trees, and the endless West Texas sky.

Price: $2 (add more if, for some reason, you want a printed version of the photo, and add even more if you want it shipped to you).
