This weekend, Twitter was nigh overcome with thousands of Tweetees chipping in their two cents (or in some cases, about $.3.28 worth) in on the little #oneletteroffmovies meme.
For the uninitiated, Twitter is a thing. You type words in it, and they go out on the web and people read them. Some people get it, some people don’t. Occasionally, a “meme” comes along, which is a sort of game in which people add to the collective brilliance of the already-awesome internet by making a contribution.
This meme involved taking a movie title, and changing one letter…and making something odd, funny, raunchy, ridiculous or otherwise bizarre out of it.
For your viewing pleasure, I offer up my own submissions (and some of my favorites from others at the bottom):
- “Eh, Brother Where Art Thou?” Canadian prisoners escape to search for treasure, sing old timey songs.
- “The Malteser Falcon” Bogart discovers pricless treasure replaced with fake made out of crappy chocolate-covered candy
- “Glengarry Glen Hoss” Loveable big-guy from Bonanza trades in his spurs for a Chicago real-estate firm.
- “Mr. Dolittle” Eddie Murphy plays disgraced veterinarian who is stripped of his license in this dark drama.
- “The Green Milk” Tom Hanks lives forever after drinking milk John Coffee touched….
- “La Vin en Rose” Vin Diesel and a French singer race imports, steal stuff.
- “Shawn of the Dead” Similar to ‘Shaun of the Dead,’ but it’s Shaun’s friend Shawn battling zombies this time.
- “There Will Be Bloop” Crazy California oil man just can’t seem to get it right! Outtakes galore!
- “The Fast King of Scotland” Usain Bolt deposes Ugandan dictator Idi Amin in this time-traveling historical biopic.
- “Gone Babs Gone” Streisand is kidnapped in Boston. Hilarity ensues.
- “Hostel Rwanda” Don Cheadle saves American backpackers from kidnap/torture dude. (Too soon?)
- “The Devil Fears Prada” Expensive t-shirts treated with Holy Water are the latest fashion trend among exorcists
- “The Furious Case of Benjamin Button” Man is born old, and is really, really upset about it. Murderous rampage ensues.
- “The Pursuit of Happiness” Down-on-his-luck stockbroker learns how to spell. Not much different, otherwise…
- “Key Fargo” Humphrey Bogart and William H. Macy face turmoil during a hurricane…in North Dakota
- BORAX: Kazakh Cleaning Products for to make U.S.A. Special Shiny Place
- “Full Durham” Minor league baseball players take to exotic dancing to help pay the bills.
- “Office Spice” After business hours, the cubicles at Initech really heat up!
- “Hone in 60 Seconds” For when you need your knife sharpened, in a hurry
