Wednesdays are for Boring Photos

Another shot from my “Least Interesting” photo set.
This was taken in Ruhengeri, Rwanda back in 2005. Sara and I stopped off in this town for a few days while on our research trip, and we checked into this “motel.” Ruhengeri used to be the main stopping off point for people going on gorilla treks up in the Virunga mountains. Then, the tour operators figured out they could make even more money off the eco-tourists by creating their own camps, closer to the national parks. So, now, Ruhengeri is where you turn off the main road to go see the gorillas. Finding a room was not a problem for us.
High up in the hills, the air was cold and damp. The sheets on the bed were damp. Our clothes were damp. The toast was damp. But, it was an amazingly friendly town, and the people were generous and welcoming.
I love how the pastel blue of the shirt and the pastel pink of the bedspread go together!
