I’m pretty sure the Pacific Northwest is the exact polar opposite of everything in West Texas: cool, green, refreshing, hilly…
Of course, some people *like* hot, flat and brown…

I have driven the i-84 trip from Caldwell to Portland probably 100 times and have never taken the scenic byway route, usually we are too busy trying to get where we are going. That building is really cool.

Chad,
You gotta take it. Yuo can get on at Exit 16 (and stop in for a bite at Edgefield), and then spend a few moments taking it easy. Then, right there at Multnomah Falls, you can hop back on I-84 and carry on.
My only fear about moving to the Northwest would be that, eventually, I would start to take that stuff for granted. I wonder if people who’ve lived there a long time are still struck by the beauty of it all…
