Shoes

Another shot of shoes, this time a collection of them hanging in the Gulu town market. You could insert your own comments about this being indicative of the larger relationship between the West and developing nations (hand-me-downs, discarded items cleaned up and passed on as throw-aways which make us feel better but do they really do much good?) but that’s up to you.

Wouldn’t the more salient comment be to observe that the shoes were produced in the third world for first-world consumption, then shipped back for secondary reuse? The supply chain of globalization is to rob the poor of their riches, then sell those riches back at a reduced price.

If that’s the comment you wish to insert, who am I to stop you?

The people got paid to make the shoes, right?

I had hoped it wasn’t true, GKB, but alas, not so! Trolls you will always have with you.
