Sphinx

This is Micsha, my mother-in-law’s hairless Sphinx cat. We won’t talk about how much it costs to buy a cat this ugly!

This photo is currently #1 on Flickr for Views, Comments and Favorites, and it’s one of my personal favorites, too.

Technically, I was amazed that this came out at all. It was handheld with my 200mm lens in low-light conditions, and I was nearly certain it wouldn’t be sharp enough to be a keeper. It wasn’t until I started editing it at full-size that I realized I had nailed the focus right on her beady little eye.

The dark background, her wrinkly visage and her penetrating eye make her seem much more menacing than she really is (Robin tells me she’s very sweet), but I like this because it makes her look so alien.
